This is the actual Powerpole distribution center I built and use in my shack at home.

It uses a 6 foot piece of 8 AWG zip cord terminated with heavy-duty ring terminals and connected to the Auxiliary switch which allows me to go from power supply to Aux. battery power by flipping the switch. 

The 40 amp AGC fuse fuses the entire block.  In future endeavors I plan to have each outlet fused.
